Rekindle Your Connection: Couples Therapy Tailored for You
Does your relationship feel more like a routine chore than a loving partnership? Do you find yourselves caught in the same arguments, again and again, unable to break free from negative patterns? You're not alone, and help is here.
Understanding the Heart of the Matter
Every relationship has its ups and downs, but when miscommunication and distance become the norm, it's time to take a step back and reassess. I specialize in working with couples who are ready to address these challenges head-on. Whether you're working professionals juggling career and family, parents navigating the complexities of raising kids, or partners seeking to reignite intimacy, my goal is to guide you toward a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.
My Approach: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
At the core of my practice is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a proven method for helping couples understand and reshape their emotional responses. EFT centers on identifying attachment issues and the negative cycles that keep you stuck. Together, we'll work to:
1. Identify Negative Patterns: Uncover the recurring conflicts and behaviors that create distance.
2. Understand Underlying Emotions: Explore the deeper feelings and needs so you can stop these patterns.
3. Rebuild Emotional Bonds: Develop new ways of interacting that foster trust and intimacy.
What to Expect in Our Sessions
The journey begins with information gathering. In the first few sessions, we'll delve into your shared experiences and individual perspectives. I dedicate time within our sessions to understand each of your personal narratives, alongside your shared story. This comprehensive approach helps ensure you both feel fully understood as we carefully untangle the cycle you feel stuck in.
As we move forward, we will work within the EFT framework to identify your negative cycle of conflict. Does one of you withdraw and the other pursue during times of high conflict, leading to worsening conflict or disconnection? EFT helps us understand how to break these cycles with clear, practical steps based on addressing root problems rather than the symptoms. You will learn how to notice when you are at risk of disconnection more readily and gain the skills as a couple to more consistently protect against your negative cycle on your own.
As a therapist, I am deeply compassionate, open minded, and non-judgmental. I am also fairly directive, confident, and willing to step into the space between the two of you to address root causes of your conflict directly, mending whatever wounds we find along the way, and ensuring each of you feel heard through each step fo the process.
